I’m live.

Snipping time away from sleep, the website is now live! For now the shop contains two reproductions of work done on canvas in 2014 and 2015. I found a printing company and had some quality tests processed and now feel confident that their prints meet the needs of my most detailed artworks. My goal is to put the entirety of my catalog on here, but for now there are two. These two works are about the internal workings of creativity and growth so it seems right to start with them.

I spend a lot of time seeing with my eyes closed. I’ve done this for as long as I can remember. I don’t know if other people do this. Perhaps it’s an unknowing form of meditation practice. But when I close my eyes, I can see light. It’s not a uniform kind of light. It changes and moves. I spend time watching as this light comes in and out of focus and it flutters around in shapes I can only imagine I’ve recently seen. When I begin working on a blank canvas or page I normally have no idea what I am about to do with it. However, in the same way the light moves, my hands move and the image creates itself as I participate in the process of trying to understand what it is I am seeing. Looking now at these two images of my work, much smaller on a computer screen than their original 20 “ and 12” square formats, I am seeing their similarity in shape and how close they both resemble the form that usually appears when my eyes are seeing while closed. It’s nearly 3 am so I will go look at them some more, as these are now shapes I’ve recently seen, with my eyes closed.
